A big thank you to Mr. Jose Martinez from London for sending a book for the reading room. If you want to learn about Rome, look out for Dorling Kindersley Travel Guides: Rome. You can learn the history of Rome and its famous buildings and landmarks like the ones below.
The magnificent Trevi Fountain in Rome is 25.9 m high and 19.8 m wide. According to legend, if a visitor throws a coin into the fountain, he or she will definitely visit Rome again.Another legend says that if a visitor throws a coin, he or she will find romance.
The famous Spanish Steps. There are a total of 138 steps to climb. This is the longest and widest staircase in Europe. You can sit here but you cannot eat lunch on these steps. It is forbidden!
The Colloseum is located in the center of Rome. It is the largest amphitheater ever built in the Roman empire. This major tourist attraction might look familiar to you. It was recreated using CGI technology in the film Gladiator. It was also used for filming a scene in the movie Jumper.
Check out the book under the non-fiction section. It will be available after the holiday.
Another book was donated by Kori Elling all the way from Minnesota. Where is Minnesota? It's in USA! Kori sent a lovely book called The Cat Ate My Gymsuit, written by my favourite author, Paula Danziger. The story is about a teenage girl, Marcy Lewis. She is a smart 13 year-old but is overweight and she constantly worries about her pimples. Her dad is unkind and her parents are always fighting. She has trouble at school because she is very unpopular. There's more to the story but you'll have to read the book yourself. Look for it under "D"!
Enjoy reading!
